Getting started with Reeve

Reeve reads the time your team logs in Jira, prices it with your rates and turns it into invoices. It only reads worklogs and never changes them. Setup takes a few minutes.

  1. 1

    Install and open Reeve

A Jira site administrator installs Reeve from the Atlassian Marketplace. Open it from Apps in the Jira sidebar. The Setup tab shows a checklist of the steps below and tracks your progress.

  2. 2

    Add your company details

In Settings, enter your company name and address. They appear on every invoice PDF. Settings can only be changed by a Jira administrator.

  3. 3

    Add your clients

In Clients, choose Add client for each business you invoice. Moving from another billing tool? The Import tab takes a CSV of clients, rates and past invoices.

  4. 4

    Map Jira projects to clients

In Engagements, pick the client for each Jira project. This is what turns a worklog into billable time for the right client. Time on a project with no client shows up in the Leakage tab.

  5. 5

    Set your rates

In Rates, a default hourly rate is enough to start. Per client, per project and per person rates override it, with per person rates taking priority over everything else.

  6. 6

    Connect Xero or QuickBooks (optional)

In Settings, choose Connect Xero or Connect QuickBooks and authorise your organisation. You can skip this and download invoices as PDFs instead.

  7. 7

    Run your first bill run

In Invoices, pick a client and a period, then choose Load billable time. Approve the time you want to bill, choose Create draft invoice, add any fixed fees, expenses or credits, then Finalize. Finalizing assigns the invoice number and locks it.

  8. 8

    Send it

Choose Send to Xero or Send to QuickBooks, or Download PDF. Reeve checks the tax codes and account mappings before sending and confirms the total your accounting system recorded. Check payment status pulls the paid status back.
